{"id":6215,"date":"2024-04-22T15:23:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-22T15:23:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/greenseal.org\/?post_type=press-release&#038;p=6215"},"modified":"2024-04-22T15:23:10","modified_gmt":"2024-04-22T15:23:10","slug":"green-seal-releases-2024-impact-report","status":"publish","type":"press-release","link":"https:\/\/greenseal.org\/press-release\/green-seal-releases-2024-impact-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Green Seal Releases 2024 Impact Report"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><strong><em>Report shows meaningful plastic, water, carbon savings from certified products<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Washington, D.C. \u2014 April 2024 \u2013 Green Seal today announced the release of its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nam12.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fimpact.greenseal.org%2F&amp;data=05%7C02%7Crmedina%40greenseal.org%7Cc918d6f7f4d149a339a408dc62ddb0b2%7C37f208f8800b485486546bddc93bdcfe%7C0%7C0%7C638493951504185209%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C0%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=BCIR2sD%2BFKdiJaTNeYAXpzLGZSsS4NIsGtSzEC1Q0b0%3D&amp;reserved=0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2024 Impact Report<\/a>, highlighting the meaningful impacts the global nonprofit and the brands that partner with it achieved over the past year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Green Seal-certified products and services meet a high standard for protecting people and planet throughout the product\u2019s lifecycle, from ingredients to manufacturing to packaging and disposal. &nbsp;The 2024 report breaks out impacts according to the core elements of a green product:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Safer Chemicals:<\/strong>\u00a0Green Seal-certified cleaning products protected\u00a0<strong>9.8 million<\/strong>\u00a0students and teachers from toxic chemicals and asthma triggers in 2023.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Responsible Sourcing:<\/strong>\u00a0Green Seal-certified sanitary paper saves\u00a0<strong>11.7 million\u00a0<\/strong>metric tons of carbon emissions each year due to recycled-fiber sourcing \u2013 the equivalent of taking 2.8 million cars off the road.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Manufacturing Sustainability:<\/strong>\u00a0Green Seal-certified sanitary paper, made with 100% recycled fiber, reduces manufacturing water use by\u00a0<strong>30.5 billion<\/strong>\u00a0gallons each year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sustainable Packaging:<\/strong>\u00a0Green Seal-certified cleaning products save\u00a0<strong>192 million<\/strong>\u00a0pounds of plastic each year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGreen Seal demands leadership at every stage of the product lifecycle, so shoppers trust our certification mark to help them cut through the chaos and find products that meet truly comprehensive standards,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Doug Gatlin, CEO of Green Seal<\/strong>. \u201cOur Impact Report shows how, together with our customers and consumers, we are accelerating the transition to greater safety and sustainability in our workplaces, our homes \u2013 and our collective home planet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2024 Impact Report highlights how Green Seal is raising the bar for products that are safer for people and the planet, including by establishing strict prohibitions on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and assembling industry leaders to align on meaningful sustainability leadership criteria for sustainable packaging and for sanitary paper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The report also features case studies of companies that demonstrate leadership in their industries and adhere to Green Seal\u2019s innovative, science-based standards.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cGreen Seal, we think, is the most stringent and comprehensive product certification program and it is integrated with LEED and IGBC requirements,\u201d&nbsp;<strong>said Rajeev Kumar Goel, Senior Vice President of Technology at Asian Paints<\/strong>. \u201cGreen Seal has qualified experts who ensure that the products that are certified are truly green and ensure minimal environmental impact and the safety of our customers.
